Lovely Coffees
In our beautiful new
coffee display,
a number of new coffees can be found. The Coop welcomes Vermont
Coffee Company’s Fair
Trade organic coffee, in Full City Roast, Café Alta
Gracia and French
Country Roast. High Peeks Java (also organic and Fair
Trade) adds
Bolivian, Ethiopian and Guatemalan roasts to their line, while Liquid
Assets
now offers African Blend.
Coffee Soda and Other
Grocery
Newcomers
From the well known Green Mountain Coffee Roasters company
(Vermont)
comes
Organic Coffee Soda. Each of the “Double Bean Elixir”
flavors — Vanilla,
Hazelnut, Almond and Original – is made with Fair Trade Certified
coffee. Also
in Grocery is Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain Pasta (“The Complete
Protein Pasta
— The Live Grain Difference!”) by Food For Life. In spaghetti
or penne, it’s
made from organic, sprouted grains and legumes: wheat, barley, millet,
lentils,
soybeans and spelt. In canned soup we’re stocking Wolfgang Puck
Organic Soup,
a line that offers over a dozen recipes including Organic Tortilla,
Organic
French Onion, and Classic Minestrone. Cloud Nine chocolate
(“all natural — nothing artificial”) brings us various treats, from
caramel or
peanut butter-filled chocolate bars, to peppermint patties, to coconut
bars. Fatori
bread sticks are in the cracker section near the deli.
Fans of Annie’s
Homegrown Cheddar
Bunnies will welcome the new 12-ounce box of these baked snack
crackers;
fans of Maranatha might want to try the company’s new Macadamia
Nut Butter.
Fish can now be found
near the paper
products/former toy section of the store. There’s a variety of frozen
fish — for
example, Natural
Sea’s
sustainably
harvested Wild Alaskan Smoked Salmon. In canned fish we’re
carrying tuna
(solid white or chunk light, salt or no salt) along with sardines. Bela
offers
lightly smoked sardines in tomato sauce, olive oil or cayenne
pepper-flavored
EVOO; Crown Prince offers woodsmoked sardines packed in water,
mustard
or olive oil.
Lastly, we are now
stocking additional
varieties of Newman’s Own dressings: Balsamic Vinaigrette;
Light Italian;
and Light Raspberry & Walnut (which contains corn syrup solids as
well as sugar).
Each comes in a 16-ounce plastic bottle.
Health and Beauty Aids
Sugar-free
gum and mints by B Fresh are new to the HaBA shelves; both are
billed as
“an excellent source of water soluble calcium” and supply “100% RDI
Vitamin
B-12.” Also of note is that both products are sweetened with Xylitol
(which
has antibacterial qualities) from birch bark, instead of corn. Ginger
Cough
Syrup from Vitality Works is made from medicinal roots
plus wild
cherry bark. Added to our creams and moisturizers is Skin Food for
Extra Dry
Skin by Weleda. In supplements, we are carrying Maca
Magic products
by Herbs America:
HRT (“Women’s Natural Hormonefree Rejuvenation
Therapy”); AdrenaLift
(“suitable for men and women”); and maca root (Lepidium
peruvianum) liquid
extract or capsules. It is noted that “Maca Root alkaloids are thought
to stimulate
the endocrine system” and that these products provide, for example,
“support
for stamina and energy, hormone balance, mental focus, [and] sexual
ability.”
