Suggestion Box

Q. Why are the muffins getting smaller?

A. They are not smaller across the board. The rice ones are smaller as the ingredients are more expensive and they do not rise as much.

Q. I was saddened to see the American flag on the door of the Coop, but heartened to at least see a token peace sign as an added part of the flag. I would prefer a pro-peace message over a pro-American message. Thank you.

A. We display the flag because of requests from members, and as a sign of support for the thousands of innocent victims of the recent terror attacks.

Q. Why sell food that is out-of-date?

A. We try to catch items that are out-of-date, and then we offer them for half-price because many shoppers appreciate the opportunity to save money.

Q. There are onions in almost all of the deli foods. Not everyone likes onions - please think of those who don't like onions. Ease up! Stop all the onions! Please.

A. Thank you for pointing this out. We'll watch the onions.

Q. It made me happy to see the "no hate" sign on the door. But now it's gone. Why? Is hate something we do not want to speak out against?

A. The sign is now up in the cafe. We strive to be a hate-free zone.

Q. Is there a sign-up sheet to work in the garden?

A. This is not a member worker job. You are welcome to call Board member George Broeckx about volunteering in the garden.

Q. Keep the sign-up sheets (in member sign-up book) up to date! It's hard to know what times are available, and that creates a lot of confusion.

A. We're sorry for the inconvenience. Each department maintains its own sheet. We will bring this up at the next department head meeting.

Q. Please keep an eye on the potatoes. When exposed to light and turning green, they become toxic! Here, of all places, this should not be happening! Thank you in advance for finding a way to monitor consistently.

A. Do you have information that says we cannot safely eat green potatoes after they are peeled? We'd like to know, because we know many people who peel the green off and eat the rest. Our untreated potatoes turn green, despite our efforts to keep them in the dark. Feel free to reach past the top layer and choose non-green potatoes. You may consider lobbying potato packers - they now use clear plastic bags, instead of the old paper ones.
