News at a Glanceby Nancy Ellegate The HWFC Board of Directors met on Wednesday, October 23. Meeting Time Change The Board voted that starting in November, meetings would begin at 6:30 pm. Finance September sales were good. Budget planning for next year has begun, and department heads will now be participating in this process. Coop Manager Search A draft of a job description for the Coop manager position was submitted along with a proposed timeline for the search and hiring of this position. There has been much work on the process for the interviews, including consideration of possible questions and possible interviewers and facilitators. The Board planned to meet with the senior staff regarding the manager search in late October. The board also voted to hold an additional Board meeting to work on issues connected with the search process on November 12. Future Planning Process There was a discussion of how to get member input on the future direction of the Coop. Various possibilities were discussed: focus groups of members led by facilitators developing ideas, or staff and Board members developing ideas to be presented to the membership. The problems of lack of follow-up and how not to constrain member input were noted. Work will continue in this area. Minutes Minutes of all Board meetings are available at the Coop. Minutes of the most recent meeting are posted on the bulletin board. Upcoming Meetings Board meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, December 18 and Wednesday, January 22. Board meetings now begin at 6:30 pm and are held at the First Unitarian Universalist Society, 405 Washington Avenue, Albany (in Channing Hall-ring the bell for entrance). It is suggested that anyone planning to attend a meeting confirm date, time, and location closer to the meeting date. |
