types of dried mushrooms are new to the bulk aisle. Organic shiitake
mushrooms have
replaced the non-organic variety, and are less expensive. Porcini,
chanterelle,
maitake and morel mushrooms (all organic) are also in stock. Replacing
Fantastic Foods falafel mix in the bulk aisle is Sahidi Falafel
Mix;
of note is that its first ingredient is fava beans instead of the usual
chick
peas. Garam Masala cashews from Tierra Farms join our
extensive
collection of nuts. Matzo and

to the Coop is Streit’s brand 100% Whole Wheat Matzo Meal.
The
same company’s Mediterranean Matzos (made with sun-dried
tomatoes,
garlic, basil and olive oil) “make nice matzo fry,” according to our
own Nate
Horwitz (membership coordinator). More
cookies are on the shelves: shortbread from The Ginger People,
and
gluten-free cookies by Envirokidz. A new variety of instant
soup is Fantastic
Foods soup mixes, which come in pouches (vs. cups). In the frozen
foods section,
Morningstar Meal Starters (“made with natural
ingredients” and
reportedly vegetarian) in “Chicken” and “Steak” flavors can be found. 100%
Natural Food Color from the Seelect Herb Tea Company are
stocked alongside
the extracts in the bulk aisle — the five colors are made from black
currant
(Red- Strawberry); beet juice (Red/Pink); blueberry (Blue); turmeric
