As part of
Honest Weight Food Coop’s commitment to giving back to the community,
we are
pleased to have had the opportunity to assist many nonprofit
organizations,
institutions and charities this past year. Honest Weight follows a
Statement of
Conscience in which we are committed to donating 5% of our net profits
to local
nonprofit organizations. We are committed to helping our community
learn more
about growing, choosing, preparing and using natural food and in turn
we
support, embrace and celebrate the diversity of our community, as can
be seen
in the distribution of our donations.Our donations made between June 1
and
December 31, 2005 included food, plants, gift certificates, food/gift
baskets
and Thanksgiving/holiday food and gifts.
Our
food donations included fruit platters, turkeys, fruit bars, peanut
butter,
water, fresh fruit, supplements, wine-and-cheese trays, pumpkins and
pumpkin
pie supplies. Recipients of our donations included the following
non-profit
organizations: National Kidney Foundation, Mountain Road
School,
Homeless Action Committee,
Community Region Arts Cooperative, Image Quilt Productions, Peace
Pagoda Peace
Walk, Albany
Skills Share, Albany
Kripalu Yoga Center,
Bethleham
Neighbors for Peace, Discard Avant Garb Show, Albany Damien
Center,
Jewish Community Center,
Hands on Capitalland (HOC), Brunswick
Smart Growth Inc., St. Catherine’s Marillac Shelter, Voorheesville
United

Library’s grand opening of the Bookmobile.
Beautiful gift baskets and generous
gift certificates were donated to a large number of organizations,
often to
benefit various fundraising events they were sponsoring. The following
organizations were among those receiving these items: Head Start,

of NENY,
North Country SPCA, Albany Friends Meeting Children’s Peace Week,
