Q. Organic meats and/or
meats not fed antibiotics would be so good at the new Co-op. Cold cuts,
etc.
A. Our current selection of locally raised meats will be in the new
store. Expanding our meat selection to include cold cuts will require a
bylaws change.
Q. It seems like the store is much warmer than it needs to be. People
are coming in with coats on. Would save some energy to take it down a
few degrees.
A. We keep the thermostat set at 67. It's hard to keep everybody
comfortable. We're doing the best we can.
Q. Can you try to stock Dr. Wood's soap? It is a cheaper alternative to
Dr. Bronner's.
A. We saw their products at the VE expo and they are under
consideration. Thanks for your suggestion.
Q. Why do you wrap the sandwiches in plastic wrap? Phalates rub off
immediately onto the food! These are endocrine disrupters. Please
switch to waxed paper. Thanks
A. We will switch to waxed paper and see how it goes.
Q. With all the money that seems to be going into a building that's not
ours, to make it functional flow, it would be very considerably kind if
a lot more thought would be put into remodeling the front end to be
more functional, since we are going to be here about two more years.
A. We are in the process of doing that.
Q. One-stop shopping if we carried organic local wine.
A. We cannot carry wine unless or until New York State changes its
liquor laws.
Q. Grocery--please be careful not to put price stickers over expiration
dates.
A. Thanks for the reminder. We will use more care to keep the stickers
from covering valuable information.
Q. Deli--Lighten up on the garlic. You're killing me.
A. OK. We'll try to avoid using too much garlic.
Q. I love the Deli, but feel like too many of the dishes lately are
very heavy on the spices. Could you consider either going lighter on
the spices or labeling the dishes with spice rating?
A. We will work on a system for indicating spiciness.
Q. There is a Japanese treat called Pocky that is hard to find. Do you
think you could stock it?
A. Pocky has too many artificial ingredients for us to stock it.
Q. The Lake Placid Bakery is now in Troy! Have you tried their French
bread?
A. We will be carrying some of The Placed Baker's items in our
specialty foods dept., and will look into carrying their breads as well.
Q. Low-sodium section, or flag "low-sodium" items.
A. We have been working on flagging low-sodium items and will continue
to do so.
Q1. Any chance we could get a new coffee grinder?
Q2. Get a coffee grinder that works! Please! We sell so much coffee…
It's bad!
Q3. The Co-op needs a new coffee grinder desperately.
A. We are working on getting a new one.
Q. Why do we have crap toys from China that may be toxic? People trust
that the Co-op engages in finding the safe, ethically made stuff we
feel good about giving our kids!
A. Our buyer goes to great lengths to find and offer our toy selection.
Many of the toys are local and Fair Trade items. Our buyer has checked
and they are definitely not toxic. We allow our shoppers to make their
own decisions concerning countries of origin.
Q. Look into carrying Sweet and Sarah marshmallows/treats-- great
vegetarian marshmallows made in NY.
A. Sweet and Sarah uses corn syrup in their marshmallows and we do not
purchase items with corn syrup.
Q. Flavored or unflavored gelatin. Hains makes some.
A. We can't find it even on the Hains website. Agar Agar is a vegetable
thickening agent used as a gelatin substitute. We stock it in the bulk
department.
