Q. I would like to suggest that we go back to issuing
10% discount cards to seniors. While I try to shop on Tuesdays (and
appreciate that option), today I needed some ingredients I wasn't aware of
on Tuesday. Is there some compelling reason to not extend the 10% discount
to every day?
A. We encourage seniors to become eligible for a 10%
discount every day by becoming working members.
Q. Can you open a coop like this in
Schenectady/Niskayuna?
A. We have a series of meetings for strategic
planning. Please e-mail or talk to Nate about getting involved with this
group (nate@hwfc.com).
Q. The "new bag policy" is a nice idea, but now
customers can't bag for themselves when a courtesy clerk isn't available.
A. Customers who wish to bag their own groceries may
find some with the boxes.
Q. It would be nice if there was cinnamon to sprinkle
in the coffee. Thank you!
A. We have cinnamon available now.
Q. How about some cooking instructions for the rice,
oats, and other bulk items for those of us who are "culinarily"
challenged? Recipe ideas could be cool too.
A. Fantastic Foods offers recipes for their bulk
mixes. Recipes are available from the deli. Our outreach assistant will
work on providing additional serving suggestions.
Q. Can you make the sign as you turn into the parking
lot higher (trees are covering it) and BIGGER, so its easier to see?
A. City regulations preclude us from enlarging or
raising our sign.
Q. The Coop has lots of "organic junk food." Why?
"Because customers want it" is not a good answer. This Coop used to have a
mission that featured educating customers about food choices, packaging,
health, the economy, and ecology.
A. We continually walk the fine line between promoting
more equitable, participatory and ecologically sustainable ways of living,
and fulfilling member requests for items of marginal nutritional value.
Our mission remains the standard that we adhere to as a coop. We feel that
remaining responsive to member requests is part of our mission.
