News at a Glance
The HWFC Board of Directors met on Tuesday, June 2.
Security
The Board approved a request from the Collective Management Team that $5,300 be expended for security cameras. Theft has continued to be a problem, and these cameras can be used both in the current store and the new store after the Co-op moves.
Sales
The Finance Committee reported that sales remain strong and cash flow projections are good.
Food and Product Manual
The Nutrition Education Committee will submit its draft of the Food and Product Manual to the Board shortly. The membership should be able to vote on the manual at an upcoming membership meeting.
Staffing
The temporary administrative assistant has now been hired on a permanent basis.
Collective Management Team Evaluation
A draft evaluation form has been circulated to Board members for their comments.
Staff/Board Meeting
At the May meeting for Board and Collective Management Team members, the recent vote against expanding meat options was discussed. The issue may be revisited as a referendum.
June Membership Meeting
There had been some dissension over plans from the meeting. Representatives of the Governance Review Council and the By-laws Panel were concerned that the meeting notice had not including specific language changes made to a proposed by-law. After consultation with the Co-op's general counsel and securities counsel, it was decided to go ahead with the meeting and the vote on the Building Blocks program.
By-laws
It was acknowledged that the current by-laws are flawed and that an ad hoc committee should be convened to resolve existing problems. The Board planned to make this an agenda item with a fuller consideration at the next meeting.
Minutes
Minutes of all meetings are available at the Co-op. Minutes of the most recent meeting are posted on the bulletin board. They are also available on the Co-op's website, as password protected files. See instructions on the Board Meetings page
Upcoming Meetings
Currently, Board meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 5:45 pm in the Co-op's Community Room. However, dates change on occasion so anyone planning to attend a meeting should confirm date, time, and location.
