The Honest Weight Food Co-op can help keep you cool and refreshed!
New from Prometheus Springs is their line of spicy beverages--try their
Lemon Ginger, Lychee Wasabi, and Pomegranate Black Pepper for a flavor
kick on a hot evening. For a different kind of drink, try Bradford
Tonics, available in B-Ginger (ginger and lime), B-Tonic (Irish moss,
green tea, ginseng, ginkgo biloba, and spices), and B-Sorrel (with red
hibiscus and ginger). The Co-op is now also carrying Real Coconut Water
(Yes, that's its actual name!), based on a popular drink in Thailand,
where they know how to deal with hot weather. There are three
varieties: plain, aloe, and coconut water with pulp.
For an easy breakfast, try Yogi Cereals. The Co-op has it in three
delicious flavors: Walnut Spice Crunch, Goji Berry Flake & Cluster,
and Cherry Almond Crunch. These would also work great as a trail mix!
If you're grilling, we now offer Organic Ville sauces, made with agave
nectar. The Co-op carries Original BBQ, Tangy BBQ, Sesame Teriyaki, and
Island Teriyaki sauces. As a bonus, they're all gluten-free! On sale in
our Specialty department this month are tortillas from Ines Rosales of
Seville, Spain. The sweet and savory flavors include Sweet Olive Oil,
Rosemary & Thyme Savory Olive Oil, Seville Orange Sweet Olive Oil,
and Sesame & Sea Salt Savory Olive Oil. As a perfect accompaniment,
look for house-marinated olives, redolent with fennel, lemon, and thyme.
We are thrilled to have new flavors of spreads from Les Moulins
Mahjoub, to complement the existing popular line. Try Apricot Jam,
Strawberry Jam, Wild Mulberry Jam, Tunisian Sweet Pepper Harissa
Spread, and Natural Preserved Lemons. To further celebrate nature's
bounty, we also have Pixie's Preserves, available in Apricot Jam,
Cranberry Jam, Pinot Noir Wine Jelly, Apricot Peach Chardonnay Jelly,
Cherry Jam, Red Currant Jelly, White Zinfandel Wine Jelly, and
Strawberries in May Preserves.
Sometimes, you need to cook, even in the summer. For a tasty,
quick-cooking meal, may we suggest Patel's Organic Indian Meals? With
nine delicious varieties--Calcutta's Baby Garbanzo Curry, Kashmir
Spinach with Lentils, Vindaloo Pilaf, Madras Curry Pilaf, Jalfrezi
Pilaf, Korma Potatoes, Kashmir Spinach with Lentils & Basmati Rice,
Korma Potatoes & Saffron-Flavored Basmati Rice, and Chick Pea Curry
& Cumin Basmati Rice--you'll certainly find your favorites. For
something novel, try Akara All- Natural African Beancakes, in corn,
green pea, or onion flavors. They are organic, and contain no
cholesterol, trans-fats, wheat gluten, dairy, or hydrogenated oil. Just
heat and eat!
Don't forget to stop in our Wellness department and stock up on natural
sun protection and insect repellents. The Co-op now carries Ladybug
products from Westerlo-- hand-made soaps, gardener bars, vanilla &
shea butter cream, as well as SPF30 sunscreen spray, SPF15 sunscreen
stick, Bug-Away stick, and Bug-Away spray with essential oils. Another
local line is Snowspun, a certified organic company from Vermont. Try
Snow Remedy Healing Salve, Baby Snow Baby Cream, Insect-Free, and Snow
Spray. The last item is a hydrosol moisturizer for sun-parched skin.
For glowing skin, we have Soothing Touch Herbal Therapy Brown-Sugar
Scrub and Herbal Salt Scrub, as well as lip balms, a variety of bath
salts, and bath/body massage oils.
