New on the Shelf

Familiar Brands, New Flavors  

Within some of our regular product lines, new flavors now appear on the shelves. The Switch all natural carbonated juice is now available in Lemonade, Tropical Punch, and Grape flavors. Added to the myriad of Celestial Seasonings teas are Perfectly Pear White Tea, described as “truly elegant”; Tuscany Orange Spice Black Tea (“lavish, indulgent, passionate”); Peach Apricot Honeybush (“energizing” while caffeine-free); and Madagascar Vanilla Red Rooibos Tea (“resonates with the wonders of Africa”). Grand claims for a cup of tea, perhaps, but Coop shoppers are invited to taste for themselves.

Lärabar raw, natural food bars now come in Chocolate Coconut Chew, Apple Pie, Ginger, and Cocoa Molé flavors. Each bar is noted to be uncooked, unprocessed, no added sugar, non- GMO, gluten free, dairy free, soy free, vegan and kosher. 

Delectable in Specialty Foods

Burnt Fig Jam from Maggie Beer company of Australia is wonderful with chêvre (goat cheese), reports a long-time Coop staff member. For new adventures in cheese, look for Testun (“salty on first bite, but gradually sweeter and more butterscotch-y”) and Bocconcino di pur capra (“all goat’s milk … another treasure from Piedmonte”). Vegans (and anyone else, for that matter) can enjoy Vegan Terrine paté, which contains no eggs, no milk, no meat and no honey. 

Honey lovers are now offered pure, raw honey from Bee-Havin’ Orchards, sold in 1.5L tubs. Gourmet food meets HaBA in Ecco Bella’s Health by Chocolate bar: “Swiss chocolate with antioxidants for beautiful skin.”

Grocery 

New in the frozen foods department is Vegetarian Chicken Leg, made with soy products and vegetarian seasonings. Grated ginger in a jar hails from The Ginger People, makers of marinades and sauté sauces.

S’mores brownie contains vegetarian marshmallows — a rare find. Gopal’s brings us Raw Alchemy Enzyme Rich Brownies, made with carob powder (no chocolate). Another new sweet on the shelf is Organic Candy Company’s Fruit Juicy Gummi Bears (“Delicious! Fun! Sweet and tangy!”). New chips are in stock: Boulder Potato Company offers “thick-sliced, kettle cooked” chips in Parmesan and Garlic, Jalapeño Cheddar and Hickory Barbecue varieties. 

Also new to grocery, Bio- Hydration Research Lab brings us “Arsenic Free, Chlorine Free, Chromium 6 Free, Fluoride Free [and] MTBE Free” bottled water.

Tea In Bulk 

Haiku Sencha Green Tea can be found in the bulk bins. This 100% organic product comes from Japan.
