Suggestion Box

Compiled by C. Morse

Q. On high-volume days/times (like Saturday mid-day) it would help to make sure the member-worker shifts that improve traffic flow (like baggers and check-out) are filled before people can sign up for shifts that slow traffic (like grocery shelf-stocking).

A. Thanks for the good idea. We’ll have to work out the logistics.

Q. Why do we promote GMOs? Several of the featured sale products in the last few months have contained nonorganic corn, with nothing on the label stating it is not GMO (e.g., Kashi cereal, Barbara’s Puffins cereal). Unfortunately these days, GMOs are so prevalent in our food supply that any non-organic corn or soy is likely to contain GM material unless specifically stated otherwise on the label. We can do better.

A. Kashi gave no response. Barbara’s person says they try to source non-GMO when possible. They report corn is difficult to source without being certain that it is non-GMO.

Q. Does the deli have an exhaust fan? I am very sensitive to certain smells.

A. Yes we do have an exhaust fan in the deli. We keep it on during work hours.

Q. The new garbage cans in the bathrooms are not a good idea for public use since you have to put your hands on them to put anything in them — not very sanitary.

A. These are what are approved for public use by NSF standards.

Q. [Follow-up] Yes, but do they make sense to you?

A. Yes they do.

Q. Disinfectant wipes for baby station? (You could mount dispensers on wall so no one takes them.)

A. Thanks for the suggestion. We’ll look into it.

Q. In orientation of new members, please stress that member discount will begin the following month after they work — less confusion and frustration later. Thanks.

A. Yes, we will stress that.

Q. Customer says $1.89 is too expensive for [deli] cookies!

A. We costed out the recipes and this is what we need to charge.

Q. Glaceau fruit water now has sugar —fructose. I had to return them as a result.

A. They just changed their formula. We will consider what to do. Also, certain flavors are no longer available. You can call Glaceau at 1-800-746-0087 should you wish to request that they continue making flavors without sugar.

Q. Tom’s [of Maine] mouthwash without petroleum — find out of this is available and get it if you can.

A. It is available. We can special order it.

Q. Bread: Alvarado St. Bakery, California Style, Complete Protein.

A. We have it in stock.
