News at a Glance
The HWFC Board of Directors met on Tuesday, May 6.
Board Officers
This was the first meeting after the election of new Board members. Board officers for the coming year will be: President – Jim Monsonis; Vice-President – Greg Pedrick; Treasurer – John Godfrey; Secretary – Lorrie Graham.
Board Terms
Five new Board members were elected. Three will serve full 3-year terms and two will serve 1-year terms. John Godfrey, Greg Pedrick and Lorrie Graham will serve the 3-year terms; Ted Mousseau and Bruce Huttner will fill the 1-year terms.
Committees and Liaisons
As is customary after Board elections, directors reviewed the Co-op committees and their current activities.

Board liaisons to committees will be as follows: Bylaws – Carolyn Maroney; Personnel – Ray Ratte; Finance – John Godfrey; Nutrition and Education – Ted Mousseau; Membership – Lenore Gensburg.
Several committees and liaison assignments will be discussed at the next Board meeting.
Facilities
A report on plans for the new store was presented. A fuller presentation was planned at a joint meeting of the Board and the Collective Management Team (CMT) later in May. The Board was to meet after that meeting and take a vote on this plan, which was to be formally presented at the June 1st membership meeting.
Staff-Board Meetings
It was suggested that there be presentations at upcoming Board-CMT meetings to give new Board members a better idea of the duties of each member of the team.
Membership
An ad-hoc committee will be established to explore and make recommendations on the issue of orientation for shareholders (that is, for people who purchase a share, but do not become working members). Possibilities that have been mentioned include an on-line orientation or a DVD.
Minutes
Minutes of all meetings are available at the Co-op. Minutes of the most recent meeting are posted on the bulletin board. They are also available on the Co-op’s website as password protected files. See instructions on the website on obtaining a password on the Board Meetings page.
Upcoming Meetings
The next Board meetings have been set for June 3 and July 1. While the Board has not set a schedule for the coming year, at present it expects to retain the current meeting time: the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm, in the Co-op’s Community Room (with some exceptions, depending on holidays, etc.). Dates will be posted on the HWFC website. Anyone planning to attend a Board meeting should confirm date, time and location.
