The Annual Budget Meeting was held on Sunday, January 20, and the HWFC Board of Directors met on Wednesday, January 23.

Annual Budget Meeting

The Coop's 2002 budget, excluding the reset, was passed.

Reset Vote Plans

The membership voted to table the decision on the reset until the Annual Membership Meeting in April. It was decided that a meeting should be held to include department heads, the General Manager, the designer, and an independent facilitator. These parties will review the plan and come to the Annual Meeting with a revision.

Other questions and comments on the budget: It was noted that health insurance costs have gone up noticeably. Insurance companies have raised their rates.

Reset Meeting

The Board discussed the process of getting feedback from staff on the reset. The Board approved the meeting among the parties recommended by the membership at the Annual Budget Meeting concerning the reset.

Store News

The new scanner (PoS) system wil be installed in February. Shift managers will be trained on the system and will arrange training for all cashiers. Space heaters have been provided for all cashiers. An electrical contractor has been working on some electronics improvements.

Donations

The Board voted to direct the General Manager not to donate membership shares to charity, but to donate gift certificates or products instead.

Annual Meeting

Preparations for the Annual Membership Meeting in April were discussed. Elections will be held and recruitment of Board candidates is beginning. Four Board members will be completing their terms. In order to balance terms of service across the board, three Board members will serve three-year terms, and one will serve a one year term. The winning candidate with the lowest vote total will serve the one-year term.

Bylaws

Two bylaws amendments will be presented at the Annual Meeting, and will be voted on by the membership. One will propose that all employees be members of the Coop. Another will make the Board secretary a separate position. The overall bylaws revision will be addressed at a separate membership meeting, possibly in September.

Minutes

Minutes of all Board meetings are available at the Coop. Minutes of the most recent meeting are posted on the bulletin board.

Upcoming Meetings

The Board was scheduled to meet on February 27, and will meet next on Wednesday, March 27. Meetings are held at 326 Ontario Street, Albany, at 7 pm. It is recommended that anyone planning to attend confirm the time and location with the Coop.
