Suggestion Box

Compiled by Michelle Calderone

Q. I wish you had fresh soy beans-I've been looking all over for them.

A. The best we can do is hope that a local farmer will grow some, and then they would be available in late summer. Or check the Fedco catalog, and grow your own.

Q. Stonyfield Farms Maple and Maple Vanilla yogurts are both sugar-free. Why are they the only flavors you don't carry?

A. We have been carrying the nonfat small yogurts. The Maple and Maple Vanilla are not part of that series, so we can look into carrying those as well.

Q. How about fruit, fruit juice or stevia-sweetened baked goods? I and my other candida-suffering friends have trouble with honey, molasses, etc.

A. We have tried fruit juice and stevia as a sweetener without success. We are willing to try new recipes.

Q. Can you try to obtain a rye cracker-Finn Crisp (Finland)-excellent product.

A. We boycott Nabisco products such as this.

Q. I was wondering if it's possible that your store get a WIC license (Womens Infants and Children program). I prefer to buy fresh farmers milk. Thank you.

A. Thank you for the suggestion. We will pursue this matter.

Q. Why are meat order sheets often not available?

A. Products available from participating farmers change bi-weekly. It takes some time to update the order sheets. Please bear with us. Eric Paul will be happy to help, if you need further assistance.

Q. List events for the current month and first half of following month in the Coop Scoop, as many events have passed by the time info is available, or it's too late to rearrange schedule to attend. Thanks.

A. We apologize for any lateness in getting the Coop Scoop out. Our editor and our staff are working to make sure it comes out on time in the future. Unfortunately, the deadline for the future Coop Scoop is so far in advance that many events are not yet scheduled.

Q. Why not put bulk peanut butter in bins with spouts, instead of the messy system you have now?

A. The variable consistency of the peanut butter does not lend itself to this. Sometimes it would work, but other times it would be too thick. We have thought about what you're suggesting, and feel it wouldn't work.

Q. Lite Life Chicken strips-vegan and good. Please don't make me go to Hannaford.

A. Thanks for your suggestion. We'll consider it.
