Q. If you could carry any
kind of dairy
ice cream, strawberry, that would be great, any brand.
A. We’ll stock some Julie’s
in
strawberry.
Q. Could we get bulk laundry
detergent in
larger containers? The purpose is defeated when pouring a 1-gallon
container
into another 1-gallon container.
A. You may purchase a
5-gallon bioforce
container on special order.
Q. With inflation [and]
increased
prices, what about increased % discount?
A. The Board’s response:
“The Board has
decided in light of the membership support for beginning the process of
looking
for a second location, not to research changing discount levels at this
time.
The 2006 budget provides for more retained earnings than usual for this
same
reason.”
Q. I know I don’t come here
often (2x/ month),
but I rarely find portobella sandwiches — I love them!
A. We make them every day
but they do sell
out. If you know you’re coming in, please call and we’ll set one aside
for you
(the earlier the better).
Q. This is in reference to a
quote in
the Times Union made by Nate [Horwitz], I believe. The issue
is,
therefore, public relations. It makes the Coop sound like a bunch of
militant
vegans, rather than a place of choice.
A. The author chose that
word. It was
not a direct quote.
Q. Appelgate deli meat would
be greatly
appreciated — all natural!
A. The referendum that would
have
allowed that item to be sold on our shelves was defeated. You may
special order
if you wish.
Q. I want fluoride in Tom’s
Toothpaste.
A. Have you read The Fluoride Deception by
Christopher Bryson? Also, Kathleen’s articles in the Coop Scoop (October
2002 and June 2005) explain why we do not carry it. [EDITOR’S NOTE:
You
can find these articles archived at the Coop’s website, www.hwfc.com. Click on Newsletters
and put
“fluoride” in the search box.]
Q. Why are we selling
chicken broth
from Pacific Foods and turkey gravy? Didn’t membership vote No to this
product
in the store?
A. We are no longer offering
these
items for sale.
Q. Please make a “farm
direct”
exception for Pacific chicken broth (not “low sodium” — it contains a
version
of MSG, autolyzed yeast extract).
A. The Board’s response:
“The
membership voted to carry only local meat products. We’d be happy to
support a
local chicken broth production if you know of anyone who would like to
start
one.”
