Art
at the Co-op
by Lisa
Vines
For
the month of March, Brigid Rockwell is exhibiting a series of
recent oil
paintings in the Co-op’s café. Her painting “Gourdling
Café” with its organic shapes,
warm colors and food-oriented title, seems entirely appropriate for the
café. A
visual artist now living in Troy with
her
five-year-old daughter, Brigid has national and international
experience: she
studied painting and illustration at the School
of Visual Arts in Manhattan
and at LLOYA, the International School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, Spain.
For two years in the ’90s she lived in Prague, Czechoslovakia.
Currently she works as an illustrator and exhibits her work locally.
This
spring she will be teaching a painting class at the Sand Lake Center
for the Arts.
