Gluten-free Fresh Breads

Those who want to avoid gluten will welcome a variety of gluten-free breads in our fresh bread section: Brown Rice Yeast Free Loaf and Tapioca Loaf from EnerG; Country Style Seed Bread, Multi Grain Bread and Cinnamon Raisin Bread by Ina Garden; and Millet & Flax Bread by Sammi’s Bakery.

Kashi introduces its Organic Promise line of cereal, in Autumn Wheat or Cinnamon Harvest. Toasted Whole-Wheat Flakes & Flaxseed with Real Mixed Berries cereal by Uncle Sam features freeze-dried blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. Another wheat-containing product new on our shelves is Loacker’s Gran Pasticceria “fine chocolate biscuits,” a rich indulgence in Noir Orange, Coconut, Cappuccino or Crème Noisette.

New in beverages is Unsweetened Almond Breeze by Blue Diamond Natural, “made from real almonds … [with] 60% fewer calories than other unsweetened soy beverages.” Coconut Juice from Amy & Brian is unsweetened, 100% juice.

Raw Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Organic Nectars (a local brand out of Woodstock) lists a harvest date and bottling date on each bottle. “Rich in antioxidants, this unheated, unprocessed, light-flavored oil is a delicious, healthy ingredient for cooking and raw cuisine.” The same company bottles 100% Raw, Premium Agave, “a slo-carb, lowglycemic sweetener and great choice for those monitoring their sugar intake.”

Spectrum Naturals brings us Organic Balsamic Syrup, produced and bottled in Modena, Italy. Brown Rice Tortillas from Food for Life are in the freezer. Dried, packaged Cracked Wild Rice (Voyageur) is California cultivated.” In the cooler are more vegetarian products from Lite Life: Smart Tex Mex, Orange Sesame Chicken and Garlic Teriyaki Chicken all made with soy protein).

Rejuvenative Foods brings us Fresh Pumpkin Butter. In fish products, we’re stocking “Think Pink” Wild Pink Salmon and “Redhead” Wild Sockeye Salmon, both from the Pure Alaskan Salmon Co. Solid White Albacore Tuna by Crown Prince is wild caught, dolphin safe and contains no fillers. Natural Sea offers Clam Chowder in Manhattan Style, New England Style and Dairy Free-Wheat Free New England Style.

“Baby Needs Chocolate” in HaBA

Bellybar — “Before, During & After Pregnancy Nutrition” in Baby Needs Chocolate or Mellow Oat flavors — offers supplemental nutrients and is made with non-GMO soy. Our own Lynne Sims in HaBA reports that this product is “delicious and very mellowing.”

Garden of Life brings us Omega- Zyme ultimate digestive enzyme blend. Arctic-D Cod Liver Oil (Nordic Naturals) “meets our daily needs for Omega-3 and Vitamin D.” Liquid Health offers Complete Multiple, which “provides support in six areas vital to optimum health: digestive support; vision & youth enhancement; organ cleanse & detoxification; antioxidant/ free radical support; muscle, bone & joint support; [and] heart & circulatory support.”

New to HaBA’s herbs/ spices section are Seasoning Blends from Frontier, all salt free: Salad Sprinkle, Simply Organic Pasta Sprinkle (both organic); and Taco Seasoning, Mexican Seasoning and Bombay Seasoning.
