Coop Scoop

A Director's Chair

by Duke Bouchard (Board member) and Mel Dragon (staff)

Did you know that the Coop has a Communications committee? Probably not, as it has been defunct for nearly five years! Well it's time for a comeback because communicating as a growing community is crucial to the future success of the Coop.

In the past the main focus of the committee has been to facilitate the production and layout of the Coop Scoop. However, our current task at hand is wide open, as our duty is to improve communications between the Board and the membership, and from the inner workings of the store to the greater community.

Imagine being able to find out about an upcoming cooking class that you might want to take, while at the same time being able to check out the hot topics at the last Board meeting. You could find out whom to contact about an agenda item you'd like to see addressed, or read about upcoming meetings. The possibilities are limitless!

From bulletin boards and the Coop Scoop to the Coop web site (www.hwfc.com), all venues of communication are up for critique and restructuring. When reviewing existing communications formats we will determine effectiveness with the following in mind: timeliness, accessibility and consistency.

By the time this issue is out, the first Communications committee meeting will have taken place-but it's not too late to get involved. We are actively seeking members and participation. We are currently meeting the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 in the community room. You can contact committee liaison Duke Bouchard at alfred@hwfc.com, at 482-2667(ext. 103), or ask for Mel at the front end. Member hours are granted for all committee work!
