Q. How about aluminum containers for the to go hot lunch instead of the plastic? Aluminum is recyclable and most likely a bunch cheaper.

A. We’ll consider the aluminum option. We encourage all environmentally conscious consumers to re-use their own containers. This can be Tupperware or a previously used and cleaned plastic hot entrée container.

Q. The deli’s mint chocolate chip cookies rock. They are so refreshing.

A. Thank you. We’ll try to make them more regularly.

Q. Evolution K-9 Evolution Diet, great brand of pet food! We should carry it.

A. Because it has a synthetic ingredient, we are thinking it will not fit our product guidelines.

Q. I’m concerned about the one-time use of the many plastic containers in the deli. Have you ever tried or considered a more traditional approach— where there are large containers of items and customers make specifications (½ lb., 2 lbs., etc.), and customers use their own containers?

A. Thanks for the great idea. We are currently not set up to implement such a system. In our upcoming reset it may be a part of our deli. For now, any customer who wants to bring in their own container may do so for the hot entrées and also for cold items, if they are not all packaged.

Q. Would it be possible for the deli items to not only have the ingredients, but the nutritional content of the items as well?

A. This is a great idea. Our deli workers currently spend a great deal of time meeting demand for their tasty and popular items. Perhaps a member worker would like to volunteer to research and post detailed nutritional information.

Q. Please post a No Smoking sign at the picnic table right outside. I just want to enjoy my lunch.

A. Thank you for pointing this out. We will post a reminder for the smokers.

Q. Would it be possible to reconsider the policy of discontinuing herbs and other items that don’t sell within six months? This week it is “pickling spice” and Oolong tea. I don’t see why we can’t throw out something if it’s too old, instead of not carrying it.

A. Thank you for your suggestion. We have pickling spices… packaged organic and bulk conventional. Our Oolong was discontinued by Frontier, and we are searching for another source. Some discontinued items have been brought back by HaBA as a result of customers’ requests. If you or anybody else wants to see an item brought back, please leave a note for our herb buyer with the HaBA department. In the meantime, our HaBA department can assist shoppers who wish to special-order an item we do not carry.

Q. I suggest that you lower your Earth’s Best Baby food to $.79 a bottle.

A. It is not possible for us to price it at $.79. We cannot get as good a deal as some large grocers can.

Q. Please post the list of vegetarian cheeses in our specialty foods area.

A. You are more than welcome to ask for the list of cheeses made with vegetarian rennet, and we will happily give you a copy. Space restrictions prevent us from posting this list.

Q. What about another screening of the HWFC documentary at the Spectrum? I missed it the first time around.

A. We are working on providing another opportunity for people to see the documentary.
