HWFC Board of Directors met on Tuesday, October 6.

| Financing for New Store |
| The Board discussed ways to
increase financing for the new store. Ideas discussed included
extending tabling on this through October and tabling at local events;
considering a fund raising event; a mass emailing to members; and
offering the Building Blocks option at the cash register. |
| Non-Profit Organization |
| There is now a Board for
the Co-op's non-profit, 501(c)(3), organization. Co-op Board member
Greg Pedrick will serve as Board president for the non-profit. There
are two vacancies to fill on this Board. |
| Store News |
| Staff noted that the new
security camera has thwarted at least one attempted theft. The Board
approved the Collective Management Team's request to hire a baker for
the deli. |
| Evaluation Process |
| The Board agreed to adopt
the new process that they've been working on for this year's evaluation
of the Collective Management Team. It was noted that there was a lot of
pressure to rush the procedure this year, but that this just isn't
possible. This year the evaluation process should begin as soon as
possible after the January Board meeting and should be discussed—and it
is hoped finalized—at the March meeting. |
| Manuals |
| The Membership Manual is
being printed. Work continues on the Food and Product Manual. |
| Consultant Possibility |
A Board member noted that
perhaps the Board should consider working with a consultant since this
might forestall "reinventing the wheel" every time a new situation
comes up. He asked whether the Board would be interested in meeting
with a representative from a consulting firm for co-ops from Vermont.
The Board agreed.

| Minutes of all meetings are
available at the Co-op. Minutes of the most recent meeting are posted
on the bulletin board. They are also available on the Co-op's website,
as password protected files. See instructions on the Board Meetings page |
| Upcoming Meetings |
| Meetings begin at 5:45 pm
at the Community Room at the Co-op. Date, time and location can change,
however, so it is recommended that anyone planning to attend confirm
these. |
