Funding the Coop

If you’ve been to the Co-op
in the past few weeks, you’ve undoubtedly seen the bounty of fresh
local produce and the colorful plants inviting you inside. Another
thing we hope you’ve seen is our table where you can learn more about
the Co-op’s fundraising efforts for our new store! Keep your eye out
for the fundraising table just outside our front door, and please stop
by to talk with your fellow members and learn more about the many ways
you can make the new store a success!
Those of you following our fundraising progress (on the giant carrot
located between the cheese and bulk departments) have seen our member
commitments climb to over $600,000. To those who have already made a
member loan, or who have contributed member work hours toward our new
store project, it is truly our cooperative spirit that is helping to
turn this project from a dream into a reality. For those members and
shareholders who are still looking for a way to participate in the
success of our new store, we are excited to offer you our Building
Blocks program!
This innovative program is the culmination of many months of hard work
from our creative members who are dedicated to 100% shareholder
participation in our new store project. Purchasing a Building Block
allows you to make a contribution to the Co-op’s capital reserves in
increments of $25, $50 or $100, in exchange for goods valued at 20%
more beginning in 2016. Shareholders can purchase multiple Building
Blocks, and you can purchase them even if you have already made a loan.
Of course, if you are not in a position to consider making a loan or
purchasing a Building Block, we hope that you will continue working
and/or shopping at the Co-op to help build our thriving business that
contributes so much to our community. If you know of other folks who
share our commitment to natural foods and household products,
sustainability and cooperative principles, now is the perfect time to
introduce them to the store that means so much to each of us! If you
