Managers' Picks

Question: What’s one really
great product in your department?
Here’s what some of our managers and staff had to say:
|
Adelle
Buccio’s Sicilian Cannoli
|
Adelle’s
cannoli forge the beginning of a beautiful Saturday tradition at Honest
Weight. This delectable treat will be displayed in the center of the
cheeses as the main focus. Ms. Buccio has perfected an unmatched recipe
that chef-owner, Jim Rua chooses for his swanky restaurant, Café
Capriccio, located in downtown Albany.
- Gustav Ericson, Specialty Foods & Cheese Manager

Local
Apples
|
Our
local apples come from a variety of local providers: Knight Orchards in
Burnt Hills, Hicks Fruit Farm just north of Albany, Samascott Orchards
of Kinderhook, and Kristy’s in East Greenbush just to name a few. We
try to rotate approximately 50 varieties of apples in and out of the
Co-op during the months of August, September, and October. Samascott
Orchards also provides our apple cider, which is free of any
preservatives and treated with ultraviolet light instead of heat
pasteurization to preserve its flavor and nutrient-rich qualities.
- Gayle Anderson, Produce Buyer
|
New
England Natural Bakers’ “Antioxidant Superfruit Granola” and “Gluten
Free Crunchy Fruity Cereal”
|
These
two varieties pack a tasteful punch! Both are free of wheat and dairy
and make a very nutritious, fruity addition to your morning routine.

Homemade
Local, Seasonal Salads
|
These
salads are made fresh daily with the freshest local selections. Some
recent mixtures include: Kale Slaw, Mushroom Medley, and various salsas
and chutneys. Our juice bar also incorporates fresh squeezed vegetable
and fruit juices, shots of wheat grass, and smoothies to order. Stop by
for a sample or feel free to make a request!
