On August 1, the Honest
Weight members approved a new schematic design--and voted 121-10 to
continue developing it for the Co-op's new store.
Designed by Envision Architects, the building will be constructed by
Sano Rubin, one of the Capital Region's top construction firms. The
Co-op Board is working to ensure that the project meets both our needs
and our budget.
According to the HWFC Board, "We are continuing to put together a New
Markets Tax Credit deal, which calls for a closing near the end of the
year. Stay tuned for more information on that. But we still can use
your help to close our funding gap, no matter how we finance the
project."
In an appeal to Co-op members, the HWFC Board reported that "we are
still short for our owner contribution to the funding package. So, if
you haven't made a commitment, now is a good time to make an investment.
"We'd like to raise $900,000 to take advantage of a generous loan offer
of $100,000 made by a shareholder family. We need your help!"
To make a loan toward our new store, check out the information
available at the Co-op.
And for members who wish to make a loan, but find the forms
overwhelming, help is available! Just contact HWFC's Loan Ranger (kandl@capital.net) for an
appointment.
